In Lieu of my usual friday fun posts today I'm blogging about a important cause the restoration of the land of the rising sun. As you all know Japan has suffered a devastating loss of life & land in a horrendous earthquake at 8.9 magnitude,tsunami and impending threat of nuclear meltdown. One of those disasters is more than enough for a nation to carry on it's shoulders all three is unthinkable. You may have seen my tweets with links to the Red Cross for those of you who would like to donate, even a few dollars helps and adds up! Here is another way you can help the victims of Japan to help start rebuilding- a project of artists united for this cause titled Art For Japan. The first artist behind this inspiring idea was James White a freelance graphic designer from Halifax who creates under the title Signalnoise. He made his first image under an hour to encourage others to donate to the Japanese people and that work sold out almost immediately with the help of social media. It didn't take long after that for other artists to start creating posters for this charity with donations starting at $25 per artwork which 100% of the profits will go toward the relief efforts. Some artists who are participating are Marco Zamora, Max Erdenberger, Advertisers Without Borders, Zac Neulieb, Steve Schiavello, Rob Dobi, Ars Thanea, Mario Di Sandro, Rojo Design & Leukocyt joined the Help Japan Poster whose proceeds are going to relief organizations like American Red Cross, Canadian Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, The Salvation Army and The Red Cross. Celebrities like Lady Gaga have designed a wristband you can buy via her website which will donate to the relief fund as well.
