Heather's 15 Minute Prayer Challenge

In January the youth were given 2 sessions on prayer-understanding the Lord's Prayer and another was about 'why & when' do we pray.
Some of you must have heard about Heather's inspiring talk that was followed by __'Heather's Prayer Challenge'. In order to strengthen our prayer walk with God, Heather posed the challenge:
For 3 weeks, set your alarm clock 15 minutes earlier than your usual wake up call. ____Use the extra 15 minutes to have your heartfelt chat and prayer with God.
The challenge may seem tough at first, however as the days progress you will notice a difference in attitude and your relationship with God. You will probably find yourself more refreshed despite losing 15 precious minutes of sleep!

During the 40 days of Lent, we invite the rest of the congregation to take up 'Heather's Prayer Challenge'. You can make use of your daily Lent devotions, or if you are unsure where to start you can always use The Lord's as a start. This time just don't go through the words, instead pause and reflect on each line and extend the prayer than normal.
Here's an outline of 'The Lord’s Prayer' with reflections on each line by Pastor Amy

Our Father - God is our dad -close and personal - intimate

in heaven, - God is above us – transcendent – totally other

hallowed be your name, - God is Holy – his name is to be honoured

your kingdom come, - Pray for the advancing of His kingdom

your will be done, - We submit our will to His

on earth as in heaven. – Pray for eternal purposes – justice, peace, salvation

Give us today our daily bread. – Pray for the things we need today

Forgive us our sins - Recognize our sins and receive God’s forgiveness

as we forgive those who sin against us. Extend forgiveness to others

Save us from the time of trial – We will face trouble, but God is able to carry us through

and deliver us from evil. –Put on the  full armour of God

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Doxology based on 1 Chronicles 29:11

AmenYes, I agree

God always has time for us, why don't we make time to talk to God? When we pray, we “connect” with God; we become aware of God's presence. When we pray, we get closer to God as we spend time with Him. We can share our needs with Him. We also get to know His voice better, so that even if he just WHISPERS to us, we know it is Him. Prayer not only has the power to transform us, but also the world around us.
