Welcome to Baltimore, Hon!

As I was driving into the city the other day, I spotted a flock of Pink Flamingos on the median strip with the sign welcoming visitors to Baltimore. This sign has always been used as a sly wink to insiders, and for many years, someone added a handmade paper sign to the wooden sign, saying “Hon!”, a term of endearment in Baltimore. It actually took two trips to get this picture. The first time, I was doing about 70 and talking on the phone, so couldn’t really whip out the camera to get the shot. The second time, I actually pulled over to the verge and shot it between cars zooming by.
