While not a new fashion item, the cape is trending once again since a quick apearance on the runway a couple of seasons back thanks to our friends across the pond. Capes have been circulating on the streets of London for almost a year now gradually creeping it's way into the closets of the fashion elite & masses alike. This trend started hitting the States in recent months just in time for that transitional weather when a cool breeze starts to bring in that first chill to the air but your not quite ready for your snow gear yet. I'm on the fence with this piece. Some of the capes I've seen so far look stylish while some look like over sized garbage bags or hideous tents. I guess the trick for a wearing this trend and still looking great would have to be the proportions and the material. A nice fitted shape without too much volume with the right softness to the texture. Skip the scratchy harsh fibers with this. The right outfit would have to be considered and let's not forget your purse which would be impossible to hang on your shoulder so a clutch or a tote would be a must. You might want to keep these details in mind when shopping for a cape. If I find one that fits these criteria I might be compelled to purchase one. Plus I'm not six feet tall which is who I think would carry this look best the most. And the last time I purchased a cape it was down to my feet and had this over sized hood with pom pom ties at the collar. I looked like some rogue monk fleeing a monastery in the dead of night LOL! I believe it was purchased from a Moroccan trading company. It was romantic to look at in the mirror but I had doubts wearing it out in public so after the return window frame had expired I was forced to give it away to charity. If you see some person strolling along with a cape fitting this description-that's the one. Anyhow, is anyone into the cape or eager to try one I would be delighted to read your opinions. Hope your still enjoying your holiday. Stay beautiful! XOXO
