As promised, here is my Spring 2011 runway trend roundup. I put together a little montage of what I think is going to be the most influential fashion & beauty elements for the upcoming spring season. The seventies are back with hot pants, wooden platforms, peasant skirts and over sized accessories. I don't want to toot my own horn but Ive been pointing out the resurrection of seventies influence for a couple of years now. There have been waves of hints (even if subtlety suggestive) in fashion, cosmetics and hair styles that were indicative of the best decade to ever have been a women in regards to clothes and beauty even if subtlety suggestive. Everyone was like yeah yeah Maria whatever you say. Eat cake girlies... I would say eat dirt but I'm sweeter than that and cake is yummy hahaha! Can you tell I'm excited. Although being a child of the eighties the decade of the seventies somehow vividly lingers in my mind the most. They say that the years before a person hits the tween stage are the years that unconsciously mold an individual the most, maybe that's why the residual effects of what was going on at that time has a special place in my heart. Anyway, back to the the topic...The designers must have gotten nauseous of the dominance of blue this season ( how anyone can get sick of blue is beyond me) because red hots are leading the pack for 2011. Red, orange and yellows were everywhere! Marc Jacobs carried this color trend the most on his runway featuring hot shades of a Tequila Sunrise on almost every piece of clothing & accessory in his collection while the models strutted on the catwalk with super bright orange lips. Jacobs also showcased another spring trend of jumbo barrettes and colorful flower clips in his models hippy peasant styled hair. It wasn't just Marc Jacobs to jump on the hair trend because Cynthia Rawley, Rodarte and Carolina Herrera all had gorgeous over sized barrettes appear in their runway shows with some models having multiple rows of barrettes clipped on. And it wasn't just all about the seventies with every designer but it was all about the bright bold colors and more fun playful prints. Even traditional cocktail and dress suits got a fresh makeover in vivid acid green colors. Other designers featured innovative brightly streaked pulled back hair, pretty nail art, frills fringe and feather trim. Maxi dress lengths were still going strong and varying hair styles of parted long locks, wild bohemian frizz and totally pulled back tight buns showcasing a full face big head look were also spotted.Girls will have plenty of style options but the key element that pulled every designer collection together was bright color and playfulness.Stay beautiful!
