It's been three full weeks since using this eye cream morning and night giving me enough information to post my findings. Up for review is Serious Skin Care A Defiance A Eye XR Cream which was given to me by a friend who purchased a gift set with a second full size bonus A Eye XR tube and she thought I would like the opportunity to try this out. What this product promises to do is to moisturize the eye area, reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and deliver anti-oxidants with time released nano-encapsulated retinol and retinol palmitate. I was excited to use this cream but a little apprehensive because every time I test a new eye product out I have to put aside my Olay Regenerist Eye Serum that has never failed me, but being game for finding good products I dove into this with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, it's like every Serious Skin product I have used in the past and I have used plenty, over priced and over rated. What I did love about this cream was that it can be used over, under and in the inner corners of your eye lids without any irritations or burning sensation which is a hard to come by factor in most eye creams. However, I did wake up with swollen eyes which dissipated about 10 minutes after waking up so it was no biggie. The part that upset me the most was that this cream promises to moisturize and radiate the area around your skin, ha! The formula went on smooth enough but right away after application it dried and tighten the skin. Now having tight skin around your eyes seems productive if you want to lessen the appearance of wrinkles but the drying effect was counter-productive to more youthful radiant skin. It was too tight, really uncomfortable and the dryness emphasized the fine lines. There was absolutely no moisture to give your skin a glowy soft youthful look. It made my skin look cracked and older than it should. I guess I continued to use it as not to waste it, I don't like wasting things. It didn't do anything over the weeks to improve texture or to make my eye area look younger or at least retain the youthfulness it has now. If only the formula wasn't so dry and mattifying on the skin, maybe they could improve on it in the future. For less than the price of this cream I can continue to use my Olay Regenerist and still provide my skin with retinol, green tea, amino peptides while leaving a dewy, silky moisturizing finish on my sensitive eye area. I'm not being biased about this product because I love my proven Olay but it's the honest truth. I see one woman on the HSN site was courageous enough to post how dry and tight this product left your skin as for the others I'm guessing mature women who used this found the tightness acceptable if they had some sagging issues around their eye area but I still can't see how anyone would enjoy the over drying sensation on a most delicate area that needs concentrated amounts of moisture. It would come down to a personal preference I guess, but still this cream is not the hyped up technologically advanced miracle cream it promises to be. I'm giving the unused portion to my mother to test if she would like and I'm going back to my affordable silky glowing Olay Regenerist Eye Serum. Stay beautiful! XOXO
