Saturday,
We prepared for the youth event to take place in the evening. We also cleaned up the church lot, pulling up post stumps and sweeping leaves. In the afternoon we went over to a nearby flavella to play a game of soccer and invite some youth to the event. It didn't take long before the game that we started drew lots of people, so that we had to play in rotation. There were two guys'games, which were really inte3nse and hard-fought. Thegirls'game took a little longer, but was also pretty good, since the Brazilians are generally amazing at soccer. The guys played essentally 2 Brazilians plus canadians vs. Brazilians. We lost the first narrowly and won the second pretty handily. A lot of the flavella kids gained quite a respect for Patrick and his crazy pro skills. We all played well though, and had a lot of fun. I think the fact that we could play soccer impressed one or two of the more reluctant youth into coming in the evening. At the event, we played a few icebreaker games, watched a video prepared by mark and brennan (see mission facebook page), had a skit and then we had a testimony by rachel and one by amy. The discussion afterward was successful to varying degrees, since some of the groups were a bit more... energetic than others. The general decision was that it went well overall though.
