LINE OF PROGRESSION ♁ ♂

ATTRACTION --> GET TO KNOW THE PERSON --> HUGGING & HOLDING HANDS --> SIMPLE KISS --> FRENCH KISSING --> STAR TREK TOUCHING --> CLOTHES EXPLODE
--> OTHER SEX --> SEXUAL INTERCOURSE

Sooo...the diagram you see is for REAL. It's the chalkboard wall in our youth room. In the previous post we had this word "IT" we meant SEX. Yes you are reading right. The youth leaders thought it would be great to have a lesson on SEX & ABSTINENCE in the month of March. The youth leaders were absolutely excited about the whole idea we aptly named March-SEX MONTH.

Julie Parr from the Pregnancy Care Centre was invited to give a talk to our youths on why abstinence is very important before marriage. She also gave tips to the youth to have a healthy dating relationship and how to recognize the signals if we the relationship is getting too 'hot & heavy' and progressing to sexual relationships.

The diagram is called 'Line of Progression'-shows how a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship progresses over a course of time. What is important about this progression line or how it can be used-it helps you set BOUNDARIES when dating.

ATTRACTION: In order to have a that someone special, obviously there has to be some chemistry\attraction going on.

GET TO KNOW THE PERSON: To get someone to notice you or get close to that person, you would have conversations and some hanging out sessions. Once a mutual feeling of "Hey I like you, let's date" gets going the next step comes in order.

HUGGING & HOLDING HANDS: Once you and your partner have established the obvious liking for each other, you would naturally show your affection through hugging and holding hands. These are also signs to let others know gently that "Yes...we're dating!'.

* GREEN indicates that these are safe boundaries to be in.

SIMPLE KISS: The simple kiss would be the kisses that you would give your partner a peck on the cheek or lips. Nothing overly steamy.

FRENCH KISSING: This is where things can often times be steamy and is an indication that things are about to get 'hotter and heavier'. At this point the FIRE ALARM & THE SPRINKLERS should be going off in your mind; telling you to take a step back and let the situation cool down.
A good reminder would be you don't want it to be a kiss you would like to give your grandma.

**YELLOW indicates that these are boundaries that are WARM-and 1 should be careful. This is because you may get carried away to the next set of progression lines.

STAR TREK TOUCHING: "To boldly go where no HANDS have gone before"..is not exactly what you or your partner should be doing. Actions like 'heavy petting', 'stroking' and putting your hands into each other's jeans/up skirts are a BIG NO NO!! This somehow can stimulate arousal and by now in your mind, you're geared to take it a step further.

CLOTHES EXPLODE: You guessed it right...once things are getting hot and heavy, layers start to peel off and be flung around. When anatomy of the opposite sex are exposed, inhibited thoughts came into play.

OTHER SEX: There are 3 types to this category dry sex, anal sex and oral sex.

SEXUAL INTERCOURSE: The actual act of sex that is intended to be shared with a special someone-the person you're married too.

***RED indicates the areas that you should completely STAY AWAY to protect yourself from emotional distress, relationship complications, pregnancy and PROTECTING your future and the future of others as well.

In an upcoming blog post, there would be a write up on why ABSTINENCE and SETTING BOUNDARIES  are very important.
