holographic compact shifts into rose images
I'm going through all my palettes-products to review and swatch them just to have them all listed as references for you guys so there will be a few from older collections. And as you probably know that make blog is still fairly new not quite a year old yet which means past products were never reviewed by me. Another reason being you can check out the past quality of certain brands if it helps you make future purchases. Some are probably going to be sold out but you can try your luck online and with discount cosmetic outlets that may have carried a surplus stock. Up for review today is from a previous holiday collection that was exclusive to Nordstroms now discontinued Graphic Garden Collection of MAC Eye Palette in Fresh Cut. I'm not a huge MAC fan but this has got to be the prettiest compact and color collection they ever made! It's my favorite for creating "romantic" eye looks. There's a lovely array of the pink family which is what the romantic look is all about with a gorgeous peachy orange. The name Fresh Cut says it all as the pigments are reminiscent of a beautiful English Garden. The fact that they threw in a darker shade allows you to play up this fun baby doll palette by creating a nice smokey eye as well. About that dark shade which appears to be a lush cranberry-it's not red at all. The first time I applied it it was shocking to find it's actually a charcoal shade with a reddish sparkly shift to it. It's quite stunning in person as my camera flash didn't allow the beautiful wine colored sparkles to show up. You get two different highlighter shades which are champagne and a lovely iced pink sheen. My only discontent is that gorgeous peachy orange which has a light pigmentation to it. They should have made it with a deeper richness to it. The formula in this palette is better than the other MAC palettes in my collection with no dry or caked colors. No primer was used in my swatch because I want you to get a good look at the actual pigment but with primer the colors come up better on your eyes. You can build up the intensity or keep it fresh and subtle. For me this is the perfect spring/summer palette to travel with plus it's perfect for you pale skin lovelies who don't like those darker brighter pinks as these shades are more sophisticated and mature. I want to point out that these colors have a slight sheerness to them so if you have darker skin they won't show up as much as you would like. Don't worry though MAC has plenty of palettes with deeper brighter pinks in their warmer palettes which will make your eyes pop out beautifully. It's a shame to waste money on a certain palette when the colors wash up on your skin so try to go to the stores in person and use the testers to swatch on your skin saving you the trouble of ordering a product you wont use. I can't recall how many times I purchased something then never used it when it arrived because it didn't match well with my skin tone. Finally I want to talk about the actual case itself which is awesome! The size of the metal compact is about 3 inches with a full mirror and a MAC mini #213 shadow brush. The brush is better than the cheap smudgers and works nicely when you need a quick fix. The compact is holographic! When you lay it down it has MAC printed in black & white repeating pattern row after row. Then as you move it around in your hands the image changes into black & white graphic roses. Gorgeous!
