The NCAA announced findings Tuesday that 12 current Miami football players accepted extra benefits from booster Nevin Shapiro and suspended eight athletes for between one and six games. Four other players must simply repay the amount of the benefits they received and will be eligible for the Hurricanes’ season opener Monday at Maryland.
The NCAA claimed the players “received varying levels of recruiting inducements and extra benefits from Shapiro and athletics personnel” including “meals, transportation, access to Shapiro’s game suite, drinks, as well as cover charges at two different nightclubs, among others.”
The article goes on to say that the investigation into the allegations of misconduct from 2002 to 2010 is still ongoing.
This is a pretty week start and if there are 12 current players who did in fact receive "benefits" from Shapiro then it stands to reason that there are more from the years in question and the program needs the death penalty.
Far too soon in this fiasco to know whether or not the U will receive the Death Penalty.
The revelations from Nevin Shapiro are damning and if true will certainly result in harsh punishment.
KEARNY, N.J. – A University of Miami booster, incarcerated for his role in a $930 million Ponzi scheme, has told Yahoo! Sports he provided thousands of impermissible benefits to at least 72 athletes from 2002 through 2010.
In 100 hours of jailhouse interviews during Yahoo! Sports’ 11-month investigation, Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro described a sustained, eight-year run of rampant NCAA rule-breaking, some of it with the knowledge or direct participation of at least seven coaches from the Miami football and basketball programs. At a cost that Shapiro estimates in the millions of dollars, he said his benefits to athletes included but were not limited to cash, prostitutes, entertainment in his multimillion-dollar homes and yacht, paid trips to high-end restaurants and nightclubs, jewelry, bounties for on-field play (including bounties for injuring opposing players), travel and, on one occasion, an abortion.

He was arrested after failing a field sobriety test and had several other people in his vehicle when he was pulled over by local police.
A Sheriff's spokesperson in Montana told RadarOnline.com that Montana refused a blood alcohol test when he was taken back to jail after failing his field sobriety test.
