Domestic Violence Claim Against Mel Gibson has been dropped

TMZ is reporting: Oksana's lawyer, Dan Horowitz, announced to Judge Scott Gordon ... they would no longer be pursuing the claim that Mel's alleged violence against her is grounds to change the custody order.

Mel's lawyer, Stephen Kolodny and the judge were visibly shocked.

Sources tell us ... Oksana dropped the domestic violence claim as a gesture -- extending an olive branch in an attempt to settle the custody case.

No Jail Time for Mel

Mel Gibson strikes a deal and will serve no jail time. So how will he be punished? Mel will plead no contest to simple battery on Friday. Reportedly his punishment will involve some sort of counseling but the complete deal is unknown at this time.

Oksana won't be charged!

Multiple sources say the dye is not officially cast, but the powers that be think there's enough evidence to prosecute Mel, however not enough to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Oksana extorted him -- notwithstanding that she demanded $15 million from him in return for keeping the tapes secret.
