Zachary Hartwell's Father Speaks

In an interview with HollywoodLife.com Zac's father, George Hartwell revealed that Zac had been working on a documentary with Ryan and also confessed that Zac had spoken with him just a day before he died about starting a family. Mr. Hartwell also talks about why his family won’t be suing Ryan’s estate.

“Besides being a comedic individual, my son was a loving individual, he was a tough individual. At the time, he had been working on a documentary about a very serious subject matter, reveals Mr. Hartwell.”

When asked what the documentary was about and if it would still go forward with production, George said, “You will have to speak to Bam [Margera] about that and yes, Bam said that it would be made. I can’t reveal too much about the documentary but I can say that it was Zac’s idea from start to finish. He was consumed with it for the past two years of his life, working with Bam on it day and night. This was his passion and dream. Bam promised me that he would see to it that it comes out. What would make me happiest is to one day watch the documentary and see that it says ‘This is dedicated to Zachary Hartwell’. When people see it they will be shocked because they will be expecting something funny, but it’s a very serious subject matter and it’s not ‘Jackass’-related at all.”

When asked how Zac’s wife, Rachel, was doing, George said, “She is still in shock. She was not able to take part in any part of the funeral. She was there of course. She is just dazed. It’s funny, my son just told me on Father’s Day — the day before the accident — that they were thinking about starting a family.”

The story gets even more heartbreaking. “Zac and Ryan were just 30 seconds away from Zac’s home when the accident happened. Rachel actually heard the crash but didn’t think it had anything to do with Zac. The tree they hit is on Zac’s property. They were going too fast, they didn’t make the turn. The car was airborne for about 150 feet before it burst into flames,” explains Mr. Hartwell.

Mr. Hartwell goes on to explain why he won't be suing Ryan Dunn's estate-“Why would we sue? Zac made the same mistakes. He speeds, he drives like a maniac, he drinks. Why should I make a monetary gain on my son’s death? It’s not going to bring him back. They both made the same mistake. Mistakes are made.”

Johnny Knoxville's Ryan Dunn Eulogy

At Ryan's memorial Wednesday night in West Chester, people were invited up to the microphone to say a few words about his life, whatever they were feeling at that moment. I walked to the podium and tried to share memories of my dear friend, but the words were just spinning in my head. What came out were the mumblings of a man trying his best not to cry, and I wasn't even successful at that. I didn't break down, because I knew Angie or his family didn't need to see that, but I also didn't get to properly convey what Ryan meant to me. I won't be able to do that here either, but I will try. Here is what I wished I could have told everyone then.

I felt 34-percent funnier when I was with Ryan, but I guess everyone did. He had such a hair trigger laugh reflex. He lived his life wanting to laugh and wanting you to laugh with him. He would cackle really fucking loud, too, and it wasn't uncommon that he would fall over from it. Sometimes I would fall with him because his spirit was very contagious.

He wasn't incapable of seriousness, though. Ryan was a great listener. If you were having troubles, he was always someone you could go sit down and talk to. Granted, most of our sitting down was actually standing up playing pool together, but he was always there if you were sad about something. That's why all this is even harder because right now I really need to talk to him but I can't.

Westboro Baptist Church To Picket Ryan Dunn's Funeral

The Westboro Baptist Church(if you can call it that) has sent out a memo detailing its plans to picket Ryan Dunn's Funeral. They have in the past generated publicity by picketing gay rights supporters and various other funerals for whatever they find fault with, including innocent children.

The memo seen below, is titled RYAN DUNN IS IN HELL! calls him an "arrogant jackass" who was "famous for his vulgar stunts."  The memo states the WBC will picket all public memorial/funerals held for Dunn.

Ryan Dunn's Blood Alcohol was Twice the Legal Limit at time of Crash

The Daily Local News is reporting that Ryan Dunn's blood alcohol level at the time of the crash was .196, twice the legal limit.

WEST GOSHEN - West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll said Wednesday that "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn's blood alcohol content (BAC) was more than twice the state's legal limit and he may have been traveling as fast as 140 mph at the time Dunn crashed his Porsche Monday morning, killing himself and his passenger.

Carroll said Dunn's BAC was .196 at the time of the accident. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08. Carroll said alcohol was the only substance in Dunn's system.

"No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol," Carroll said.

Coroner: Ryan Dunn's Death Was Violent

While the toxicology results could take four to six weeks, the Chester County Coroner provided the other results of the autopsy performed on Ryan Dunn and his passenger Zachary Hartwell. They both died very violent deaths and they were more than likely dead before help arrived.

The police believe the car was traveling at 100+ MPH at the time of the wreck and the coroner said that the impact was so violent that it could not be determined if they died from the wreck or the fire that followed.

Roger Ebert Apologizes and Clarifies Tweet

Roger Ebert took to his website and posted the following apology in what appears to be directed to Bam as Ebert writes the apology after first posting the two tweets from Bam.

To begin with, I offer my sympathy to Ryan Dunn's family and friends, and to those of Zachary Hartwell, who also died in the crash. I mean that sincerely. It is tragic to lose a loved one. I also regret that my tweet about the event was considered cruel. It was not intended as cruel. It was intended as true.

I have no way of knowing if Ryan Dunn was drunk at the time of his death.

He then goes on to attempt to clarify what he meant by his tweet.

What did I mean by that? I meant exactly what I wrote. I wasn't calling Ryan Dunn a jackass. In Twitter shorthand, I was referring to his association with "Jackass." I thought that was clear. I note that Bam Margera uses the word "jackass" in the same way in his tweet.

I think what Mr. Ebert has done here is the right thing to do. He is absolutely entitled to his opinion but I believe his tweet was too soon given that all of the facts haven't come out and clarification was definitely needed as the tweet was taken as offensive by Ryan's loved ones. You can read his entire apology and clarification here.

Ryan Dunn's passenger Identified

He is 30 year old Zac Hartwell.  According to police, Dunn appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed when he tried to take an exit at around 2:30 a.m. near Pottstown Pike and lost control, went airborne over the guardrail, and collided with a tree. The impact resulted in the vehicle bursting into flames.
"Our officers tried to get to the vehicle, but could not do that and shortly after they pulled back, the gas tank exploded," West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll said.
Both Dunn and Hartwell were killed. Investigators say both bodies were burned badly.

More on Ryan Dunn

TMZ has obtained pictures (from June 12) of Ryan Dunn's Porsche 911 GT3, which they claim had special racing rims and was capable of hitting 190 MPH.

Also Roger Ebert disrespectful Tweet:

While it has been reported the Dunn was out drinking prior to the accident there is mixed reports on how intoxicated he may have been. I think its a little to early to blame the booze although they may have ultimately played a role in the crash its too soon for this type of comment.

Johnny Knoxville and others from Jackass have commented via twitter and Knoxville had this to say:

"Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie." "RIP Ryan , I love you buddy."
