Originally, it was Benicio Del Toro (Moe), Sean Penn (Larry) and Jim Carrey (Curly) signed up for the cast, but when Penn and Carrey fell through, the directors were back to the drawing board. In December, it came out that Johnny Knoxville and Andy Samberg were in contention for roles, but now, not even that is set in stone.
Now it being reported the Timberlake could be cast as Larry.

Cher to join the Stooges?
Larry, Curly, Moe and...Cher?
Even as they continue to seek the three leads for their big-screen version of "The Three Stooges," Peter and Bobby Farrelly say they have an unusual idea for one of the lead female roles: The brothers are aiming to put Cher in the movie.
The goal is for the singer-actress to play Mother Superior, the nun whom the Stooges terrorize.
