Purple Moon-Fantasy Nail Art Tutorial From Sephora

HAPPY FRIDAY!  Today's post is all about the latest trend-Fantasy Nail Art. While I'm not big on nail's these days due to my own kitty claws always being quite brittle and short, which is why I love wearing them slightly shorter as not to fuss because high strung people like myself don't need the added aggravation of maintaining claws on a weekly basis. But after checking out the latest fantasy art from Sephora and one look in particular-Purple Moon, I just may be swayed to jump on this fabulously fun trend. And it's purple! By the end of this year when I do a blog roundup of my likes, I will calculate how many purple products in my possession and post about them.

If your not a fan of this look, Sephora has other options for you to choose from that best reflects your individual style. There's the Giraffe & Pink Cheetah for you wild animal lovers. Distressed Metal for you industrial fashion night owl party goer's. Cherry Blossom for the romantics and Glitterati for all you divine diva's.

For every style you love Sephora has a handy Get The Look Guide to help you DIY as well as video's and all the nail colors/products you need available to buy all on the site.

Love The Purple Moon Look
Sephora's Guide Get the Look:
1.Starting at the base of the nail, paint on
SEPHORA by OPI Nail Colour in Iris I Was Thinner, making a symmetrical crescent shape that goes one-third of the way up your nail. Let dry.
2. Apply two coats of
SEPHORA by OPI Nail Colour in Domestic Goddess from the top of the moon to the tip of the nail, and let dry.
3. Seal with
SEPHORA by OPI Top Coat, and let dry.
4. Place
SEPHORA by OPI Nail Designs in Gold Metallic Flowers just above the half moon, following the curvature of the shape.

Or you can get inspired and be creative with your own designs but hurry up and enjoy it because the trend for Fall 2011 Nails are super short, minimalist clean and with the boldest pop of color. What fantasy nail art style are you?  Have a great weekend!  Stay beautiful! XOXO

Couture Nails:Ruffian Manicure

Why is it that Vogue Italia always has the best fashion editorials or Europe in general for that matter? There's always that something "extra" in the creativity department.Maybe I should try my luck and move to Italy for awhile-enough of my random babbles-let's get to the story.I'm sooo late on this because of having a million and one things to do and post about but I just had to post this trend. In a sort of recent Vogue Italia article the top stylists are declaring the new trends in manicures-the Ruffian manicure is all about less square shaped and never too long.I completely agree with the never too long nails because I gave up growing my nails dragon style since I was a teenager and let's face it when your a teen anything looks fashionable on you plus you can get away with everything.I'm reluctant about the no square shape because that's just the way my nails naturally grow but I'll give it a try. Maybe give myself Ri-Ri nails-see below photo:

The girls fashion sense is off but she is fierce & so are those pointy nails. While proving my point that youth can get away with pulling off anything-you go girl!

Now back to the Ruffian manicure. The first photo of the Blue Moon manicure was featured on the Ruffian Fall 2010 Runway Show and is an eclipsed moon manicure which has it's roots in the 1940's.In this top image the moon has been flipped giving it the "eclipse" style.Ruffian is not the only or first to start this trend but they are leading the pack with innovative designs and color combination's.The gold mixed with that gorgeous blue is to die for! I MUST try this-right after I get my nails to grow a bit longer. The second photo of the Red Ruffian manicure was featured on the runway for Christian Dior Spring 2010.The other two photos from Vogue Italia feature Sasha Pivovarova sporting the manicure-you need to look closely.I found a great blog that has an easy guide on how to get a Ruffian Manicure-it's Lacquerized-check out this awesome blog!

Chanel Intermezzo Polish

If there's only one shade of nail polish you have on reserve this summer then Chanel's Intermezzo from the Fall "Venice" Collection is the one to have. This white pearly base will match effortlessly with any outfit your wearing while allowing you to transition perfectly from your day to evening look.Although I always find Chanel polish chips rather easily,I'm willing to overlook a minor flaw to sample this summer fresh shade. Retail $25 Availability:Izzy's Beauty Shoppe.

While your at it pick up a couple of bottles in the shade Blue Satin to have on hand for upcoming fall/winter. It's going to be one of the hottest colors.
