Urban Decay is putting these palettes out faster than people can buy them and don't look now because Book Of Shadows IV is hitting the shelves in October 2011.

What's different about this palette is that it's for the tech-y freaks out there equipped with speakers for your iPod listening, smartphone, and includes a video tutorial you can hook up and watch while applying your makeup. Innovative... yes. It's just that these are getting pricier and some people have get to buy the Naked Palette. But no doubt it will sell out and I will definitely grab one for review so stay tuned. Finally! I had a moment to swatch and upload photos for you guys. What I thought would be the mother load of all palettes this year with angels singing loudly AHH AHHH AHHHH... Well, almost...

What am I talking about? The Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette which helps celebrate fifteen years of Urban Decay in a gorgeous commemorative keepsake box. This is part of an entire collection of limited edition products UD put out for their special anniversary as well as being a new item in the fall collection. I will add images of the entire line up in another post.  I'm a little yay and a little nay on this, read why in my results below.

What this is:

Pro: new shades, beautiful presentation, great pigments, cruelty free, travel friendly, cute mini storage space

Con: cheaply made palette, reflective container is light plastic and fingerprints don't clean off easily, the top is super loose so you must be careful when handling the container, the shadows are not full weight-slightly smaller, no primer-liner or anything else included making it a pricey set overall.

My results: First let me start off by saying if it were not for the Urban Decay shadow quality I would be really upset with this palette finding it not worth the price even though it's gorgeous to look at and I LOVE URBAN DECAY. I'm an absolute fiend but have a few grips with this palette. I know you gals are going to grab this regardless of the faults as you should because it's still a hot item with fabulous pigments but I feel I should do a complete honest review and I'm not regretting having purchased this at all.

Gripe #1 the pigments had arrived all pressed with fingertips and customer service said it's from the manufacturer who presses the shadows down when making them using gloves. Still... Check it out before sending it to people or at least swipe down the fingerprints first.

Gripe #2 the reflective surface it has is not a mirror but a very thin flimsy reflective plastic surface that holds fingerprint stains and when you clean it off it looks murky. Yuck! For this price and your loyal customers a real mirror surface would have been ten times classier and more presentable on a vanity.  I know what your thinking, this girl is anal and ummm yes your right. Is it wrong to want quality? I'm a neat freak and don't like messed up stuff, sue me.

Gripe #3 The lid is super loose and you need to handle it with care or else your fingers will slip and bye bye palette!

Gripe #4 No primer, no liner no nothing special extra to celebrate 15 years. I know I complain I have too many primers from the previous kits but still, at least I use them up. I think tweens or teens might not care about these little things as I probably have not at some point but being more mature and growing conscious of how I spend my money I would expect more quality. This has less product than the older palettes so it's not really that super in terms of value. I do like the palette plenty enough but just feel a little disappointed.

The Formula: The shadows are nicely pigmented as usual from UD and they are silky making them easy to work with. The color variety here is also nice with something for everyone to lust after. The shades are also versatile making them wearable for day to evening. And while there are fifteen new shades some are slightly similar to older UD shadows. What I'm tired of are all the smoke shades already. I probably own 100 different variations of black shadows and hardly wear them anymore. The also need to stop adding glittery variations of midnight cowboy. I do like the three pinky/plum shades junk show, omen and tainted the best. My other faves are evidence, deeper and deep end. It would have been nice to see more vivid colors in this set but I'm pleased with the ones included in this palette. The shadows are reported in other reviews as full size, they are not full size. They are 1.3 grams and the full size are 1.5 grams. At this price with no other product included they could have made them full size for this kit.

The Packaging: It's gorgeous and presentable! I really love it! But the quality kills it for me as it feels like it was put together last minute with the cheapest material. I'm afraid to handle it and every time I touch the case my fingerprints ick it up and unlike a real mirror the surface gets murky when I try to clean it with a cloth. The design of it is beautiful enough with scroll work on the outer case as well as a pretty giant UD fake jewel logo on the top portion of the case. It's cute that it rests on a faux velvet like container and that you can remove the pigment layer sheet possibly sneaking  a little love note underneath it. You can only store something flat in the bottom but you can use the purple velvet box to store some jewels if you like. The size is about 5 x 5 without the purple case and it's travel friendly although it might damage easily so be carefully when packing it.

All in all I'm still happy with the collection and decided to pick up another one to give as a gift for someone and despite what I posted in my review there is no regret on my part for purchasing the palette. My reviews are always honest and in my opinion fair, period. I just expect more quality from UD because their eye shadows and cosmetics have always proven to be worthy of what they charge. Hopefully they will put out something more spectacular in the future. It's too bad I'm not designing these things because they would be killer gorgeous! I'm going to give this a four starfish rating and that's pretty good considering. I still would recommend you buy this for the collectible factor, for the quality of the pigments and because it still is a really beautiful palette to keep on your vanity. I just find it necessary to share all the kinks that I experienced with this set. The palette is available now at Urban Decay as well as Sephora so get shopping before they sell out.! Have one? Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencil

After weeks of sitting on this product I'm finally glad to bring you my review for Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Shadow Pencil Shade Morphine and as you already know fat pencils and Urban Decays' Asphyxia shade are two obsessions of mine and the anticipation of using this product made me all giddy! Morphine is a more paler subtle take on Asphyxia yet it still has a lovely bluish shift in it's formula. In my swatch a lot of the creamy pencil had to be applied because it's a really pale lilac-y tone rather than purple so you can use this as a highlighter or go more dramatic by building on the color intensity. I have always loved lilac eye colors since my tweenie days and as a matter of fact in my beauty box is this one fat eye pencil stolen from my mothers beauty cabinet ( because she never used it) called Cleopatra Kohl in almost the same color except that one is even more pale with a white shift to it. That pencil has been in my possession for decades yet it still remains fresh! It's literally down to a thumb size amount after trying to save it all these years! Don't judge me... After purchasing a few lilac fat pencils from Victoria's Secret years back I longed for the day when someone would come up with the one similar to those two and thank goodness Urban Decay made this! I'll be stocking up on some more for sure. Some product information below before posting my results.

My results: What can I say, I love this product and have been searching for a shade such as this for awhile now. Let me start by telling you the actual color of Morphine which is listed as a light purple with a blue shift. In my opinion this is more of a pale lilac with blue shift-much lighter than UD's Asphyxia so if your a fan of that shade you might like this one as well. The pencil is packaged in a metallic-y  box with the actual outer eye pencil in a matching lilac color and holographic silvery Urban Decay logo printed on it and a fat metal cap. The pencil length is about four inches and maybe half an inch in thickness. It's really a fun fat eye stick but in my opinion it could have been fatter with more product weight only because the Victoria's Secret fat pencils in a similar color purchased by me were about 5.44 grams in weight while this is 2.8 grams plus the VS sticks ran for about $8-$10 dollars. I do have to say this formula is way better and has a lovely shift to it were as the VS pencils formula were a little less pigmented than these so you are getting a better color payout for the price.

The pencil formula is fabulous! It's very creamy, glides on smoothly with no tugging, waterproof and long lasting. It does not smudge! It'll stay put until you wash it off. I didn't experience any irritation with this product which is a plus because my eyes are very sensitive. It functions not only as a eye shadow but works well as an eye liner too so whether you want precise thin lines or fat smudge shading it's very versatile. There are twelve gorgeous colors to choose from making everyone happy plus you can also layer these sticks over other colors in combination!

The only thing that would have made this better for me would have been more product because it's so creamy it wastes down rather quickly and $20 is high to continually renew a product I know I'll constantly be using. Also they didn't include a sharpener which is not a really big deal because I already own the UD dual sharpener recently reviewed but some people might have liked one. I remember the fat Lip Pleather pencils I got years back had a sharpener included in the box. Still the formula alone makes it worth it making me give this product a 4.5 starfish rating for the formula, long lasting wear and rich pigments. A lower price and more product would have earned this a super duper starfish rating. Stay beautiful!  XOXO

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Woodstock

Woodstock is Urban Decay's  newly released single token compact shade which is also available in the Feminine Dangerous & Fun Palette (also brand new). I have been sitting on this product for awhile now because the color irked me for some reason and I have to say this is the first UD shade since that glittery Midnight Cowboy (with all it's atrocious glitter fallout) that I'm not really feeling. It even got a lukewarm rating from me on another website which is saying a lot because I'm the first to drool on anything UD. Anyhoo, since using it a few times it's actually growing on me and I'm loving it more than when first using it. For me this color seems like a bright pale reddish shade instead of that bright luscious pink I was after but with loads of application you get a better rich pop of fuchsia. Don't get me wrong I'm not regretting the purchase especially since I own just about every single shade in the token compacts so adding this was a must. Plus with all the bold bright makeup trends for this summer it's a plus to have on hand. I'll get more into my results after posting some product information below.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow

My results: With this particular shade I found when applying the shadow that it's formula was slightly drier than the usual Urban Decay shadows and it appears to be less pigmented. It has some subtle sparkle in it but without the glitter which is really nice still it feels more matte to the touch without the silkiness. This is bizarre because I'm always telling everyone how UD has the best rich formula,could I have gotten a dud? A bad seed? Hey stuff happens! The pigment is a little sheer and you need loads of application to get a bright pink pop to show up but if you are looking for a subtle sheer pink layer then this works well because it gives off a nice pale rosy reddish single coat. At least that how it shows up on my skin. Also this shade works better with primer on your lids first. I usually don't wear primer with UD shadows because I find the pigments a little more heavy handed but with this one it was a must. If your not an avid UD makeup junkie then you may also consider this too pricey. If your a collector then this is one you would want to add to your lot. It's so weird that this one shade is making me feel this way! I think I posted how obsessed I was at some point with all pink shadows which was the real reason I purchased this yet it fell flat for me when it first arrived now I'm warming up to it, lol! Don't ask us girls can be fickle sometimes and if I'm moody I can run hot & cold faster than the speed of light. I'm probably going to enjoying using this at wonder why it bothered me so much in the first place. This review has been all over the place but I'm trying to be honest with my findings rather than tell you how fantabulous it really is and to just go buy it. I'm giving it a 3.5 starfish rating only because I feel the formula could be more pigmented as I have come to expect from Urban Decay especially because of the brands price points which I always dish out for when buying their items. Here's another product from my obsessed collection in the Asphyxia shade Urban Decay Loose Pigment Eye Shadow Asphyxia. I love this color, can't get enough of it! It's totally gorgeous! The container for UD pigments are not only adorable with pretty scroll work designs but also practical with a really nice built in brush inside the glass tube. What you see in my swatch without the flash is pretty true to color which is a beautiful pinkish purple with a blue shift. The website states this as a purple shift but it's not because you can see the blue when you blend it in into your skin. I added a more sheer layer with the swatch but you can build on the color for more drama. Some product info from manufacturer below before I post my results:

Urban Decay loose Pigment: Color-intense, super-fine pigments in a rainbow of shades. Try a little for a sheer wash of color, or layer for bold, shimmering hues. The spill-proof tube even includes a high-quality brush.These powdery-fine, silky soft shadows deliver more intense color than pressed or cream eye shadows. Try a little for a sheer wash of color, or layer for bold, shimmering hues. With everything from bold brights to pretty neutrals, there's something for everyone! 

 

Pro: rich intense pigments,long lasting,spill proof glass tube,easy to use brush,cruelty free,blends easily,formula goes from sheer with buildable intensity, available in 12 shades

Con: small fill weight 1.2 g (less than single compact), pricey for the size, even thought it is spill proof a lot of product gets wasted when dipping the brush with some pigment  fallout(see photo), brush is okay but because it's so small a full size helps you work better in blending the product

My results:Let's start with the packaging which is really adorable! The loose pigment is housed in a thick glass tube with lovely scroll work designs even on the top of the cap. Inside is a brush which is attached to the cap portion and is really decent with firm bristles but because the handle is short using one of your longer shadow brushes will allow you to maneuver the pigment on your eyes better. The little brush does come in handy if your traveling with it in your purse. The formula of this pigment is very rich and intense similar to the Asphyxia in the token compact but with a little more texture to it. If your not a fan of working with loose pigments you might prefer the tokens over this but it's not that hard to work with. It starts off with a nice sheer colorful coat and easily buildable for a more dramatic look. I think the blue shift in this shade comes out better with several layers applied otherwise it just appears to be a light pinkish violet. And although you generally need less product when using pigments because you want the richness to show through you need a lot of layers. I had to apply it several times to get the color to appear correctly as it should. This is annoying because you use up more product and it's only 1.2 grams to begin with which is not a lot of pigment. I save this for highlighting and use my Asphyxia token compact when I want to splurge more on application or it would be used up faster than it should and at the price point it's not economical to waste it. I'm still a fan of this although with it's price point they should make the tube larger in the future and maybe lengthen the tube as to add a longer brush. This gets a 4 starfish rating from me because of those reasons. If your a die hard Asphyxia fan like me you probably want at least one  of these in your collection because it's a gorgeous shade. Urban Decay Ink For Eyes

Today's review is for two different shades of Urban Decay Ink For Eyes cream based liners.The first shade is in Zero which is black and the second shade is in Pyrotechnics which is a clear glittery cream. These creamy eye liners are so easy to use that even I can use them as you can see in my swatch a perfect cat eye without all the mess. If my shaky hands can get an even line then anyone can! And if you haven't noticed yet the weird but fun coffin shaped compact is travel friendly complete with a mirror and dual sided brush. One side on the brush is for lining while the smudger side is not only great for blending in but works as an eraser when you want to clean up some of the product. I'm posting some product info from he manufacturer below before I get to my results. You'll have to excuse me for not adding a photo with the pyrotechnic look because of the fact that it's a clear cream gel with only fine glittery specks (no color base) it would not come up for anything with my sh*t faced camera! You need a shadow on your lids to emphasize the glitter but it does make for a beautiful holographic glittery eye look. I'm so upset I couldn't capture it because it came out so gorgeous on my lids. When I have time I'll try to re-do the pyrotechnic with eye pigments. Stay beautiful! XOXO

Pro: creamy, glides easily,long lasting formula, fool proof, nice applicator, travel friendly case with mirror, cruelty free, precision lining, great for cat eye    Con: a bit pricey, you need loads of eye makeup remover-it's not a problem just thought I would mention it and you get an idea of how nicely put it stays on your skin.

Con: For shade Pyrotechnics: no color pigments at all in this glittery based cream liner. it shouldn't be classified as a liner because the brush is worthless. You can hardly grab any product with the liner brush making it a waste of time. There is nothing to line with this. I had to use my pinky which grabbed lots of product and covered my lids nicely for a glittery look. It does show up like a gorgeous holographic glitzy effect and also with a eye shadow color beneath, My only problem is that this doesn't line your eyes so it's not a liner. I love this shade but maybe if they put it in a pot without the brush people wouldn't get the impression you use it as an eye liner. This is more for special effects eye looks.

My results: I found this cream liner easy to use with a wonderful long lasting formula. The packaging is also fun and unique. It's in this coffin shaped compact about almost 4 inches in length with a mirror on one side which is narrow like the case. The product is lined narrowly along the case lengthwise at 2.5 grams in weight. It's perfect for precise lining for everyone to use, you don't have to be some makeup guru. With a little patience you can go from subtle lined eyes to more buildable dramatic looks. I actually get it right on the first try dabbing the liner brush in some product and gently running the brush along my lower lids above my lash line in one stroke. If I need more intensity I just outline it with fatter strokes by using the side of the brush. The formula is long lasting, smudge proof and non irritating. IIt is a little pricey but you need very little product and it's worth it for a good quality creamy eye liner. And when the product runs out you can always use the case to add more gel/cream liners that they sell in pots. It lines your water line just as nicely without any fuss. I'm so upset I couldn't grab a shot of the pyrotechnic on my eyes because it is beautiful! For me pyrotechnics isn't an eye liner, just a nice creamy glittery base. The specks of glitter are super fine and give off a slight holographic effect under lighting. Also when you want to remove the product off your eyes you will need a lot of makeup remover because it really is a strong formula.  I'm going to give these liners a collective 4.5 starfish rating. It could have used more product for the price but hey it's worth it. Stay beautiful!  XOXO
