Victorias Secret Pro Lasting FX Eye Shadow Primer

I purchased this Victoria's Secret Pro FX Lasting Eye Shadow Primer (8 gram tube) a couple of weeks ago just to test it out and because it was a good value but forgot about it tossing it aside ending up in my "to test" basket. Well it's that time of the year when I clean out my beauty cabinets to throw out all the used and worthless makeup jars and such so I noticed this in a pile and decided to give this a try today. I wasn't expecting high hopes for this product as VS cosmetics unless being the limited edition types are usually hit or miss but I have to say I'm impressed so far. Having applied this early this morning, my shadow is still in place without any oiliness or smudging. The rich orange pigment  I used is as matte and fresh since applying it. As a matter of fact, the bright orange color felt inappropriate on me since it's super bright and my skin is unusually pale in this cold blizzardy weather were having and I wanted to switch it up with a more nude shade but the color wouldn't budge! I rubbbed with a tissue, cotton ball, fingers wet then dry but nope...color is still there. Of course I didn't use an eye makeup remover because that would be pointless since the product would come off. It's just a little less bright but it's still sticking and the shadow I used was a thrifty "Jane" shadow you get from the pharmacy. This is definitely worth the $8 to spend if your on budget and looking for a great primer. Stock up and keep a few stashed in your cosmetic case for when needed. I'm utterly shocked by the value & quality. Stay beautiful! XOXO

Eyeko Extra Glow Cream:Limited Edition

Hello bloggers, hope everyone is having a lovely Veterans Day and taking a  moment out to honor men and women serving in the armed forces. I know I have been bombarding you with highlighters lately but if there's ever a time when highlighters are in season then the holidays would be it so another highlighter cream up for review today is Eyeko Extra Glow Cream Limited Edition. This has been in my collection for awhile but I'm just getting around to it. You'll be seeing a lot of highlighter reviews as I'm sitting on tons which haven't been used by me yet including Urban Decays UrbanGlow. This Eyeko cream is a updated new formula from the original Eyeko 3 in 1 glow cream which has more concentrated glow for a soft focus radiance and loaded with micro light reflecting pigments. It's 3 in 1 because the triple uses for it works as a moisturizer, highlighter and eye cream. It's very rich and thick requiring just a minimum of the product to be blended into your skin. As you can see from my swatch above the color is a lovely pale pearlescent pink with a silvery tilt to it. I have to mention when making the swatch for the photo the cream was not blended in to my skin because I wanted to show you the color and if I blended it on my skin it would be lost with the camera flash. So keep in mind it's not that cakey and bright. The formula blends well giving you a very soft radiant sheen. The benefit of a cream versus powder is that you get a more natural glow without a powdery finish  that shows up on your skin. This also works wonder for brightening up around the eye area and flatters your cheekbones and decollete area as well. I also rub some on the outside of my hands for fun when I want a great manicure to get noticed. What they could have improved on was the smell because it has a subtle chemical odor to it, it's not sharp but noticeable. You think they would give it an enticing scent to go with the pearly glow. The formula could also have been improved by being a tad bit more sheer and not so thick. The packaging is a cute little pink plastic jar about one ounce weight in size which is small but will definitely last you a long time as you only need a dab of product application. If you find this is too pinkish for your skin tone there is a warmer subtle bronze tinted  glow cream available from Eyeko as well. This Super Glow is limited edition and sold out but is currently in stock again. It's not one of my favorite highlighters but it gives a gorgeous moonlit effect and the price is decent. Stay beautiful! XOXO

Trend Alert:Catch The Red Eye

On the Dior 2011 Runway
Vogue Italia, Photo Steven Meisel
Photo by Miles Aldridge, from Vogue Italia

Vogue Italia has declared the red eye the latest trend. I was wondering when they were going to catch up...next to blue/violet colors, the red eye has been a fave signature look of mine  for years. And not just red...yellow and orange sunburst shades energize your personality. Even though this was a hot look seen on the Spring 2011 runways, go ahead and turn up the temperature while sizzling away the chill  of  upcoming winter nights. A sexy trend any woman can make use of because this color scheme is great for you snow whites to make your pale skin stand out and for tanned & darker skin beauties a hot bold red will accentuate your skin tone. Don't be afraid to play around with a bright palette. Keep the spotlight on your eyes and lips but Vogue Italia beauty pro's recommend that the shades should be different as not to clash. Personally I think this look works best with a nude lip. Next to Marc Jacobs, this trend was also hot at this years Spring 2011 show at the Dior shows. What do you girls think about these red hots dominating spring/summer 2011 looks or even at this moment? Any fans of these juicy shades? Stay beautiful! XOXO

Trend:Senna's 1930's Vintage Inspired Beauty

My Senna Catalog arrived today!
I tweeted about how the 1930's fashion was making a comeback this fall awhile back along with a mini mention in a post concerning Givenchy creating this mysterious decade of femme allure for a fashion editorial in Vogue Italy. That mini post can be found here. Although I didn't get a chance to post images of Givenchy's shoot today my Senna Cosmetic catalog arrived in the mail with a fantastic futuristic take on the 1930's trend with beauty styled by make-up guru and founder Eugenia Weston. If your have never heard of Senna Cosmetics before you should take a moment to visit the site to familiarize yourself with this professional quality line. If your one of those make-up connoisseurs like myself perhaps you might remember years back when Senna made the Black Russian lip color the hottest thing next to the Chanel Vamp shade. As a matter of fact my Black Russian lipstick and Chanel vamp lip & polish are still in my make-up trunk case. How apropos that the blood red vampire lips are back again and Senna has got a few gorgeous shades out just in time. What I really love about Senna is that at the mention of it most girls aren't too familiar with this line so it feels like having a well kept secret {giggling childishly to myself} mmm okay secrets out now... Another reason I love Senna is that they always make those great little special effect items such as diamond dust powders, creamy pearl highlighters which usually are featured around the holidays as limited editions. They also put out the best little pamphlets with beautiful photography showcasing hot trends of the moment along with helpful tips and how to co-ordinate shades for certain looks. I used to collect the little pamphlets but that stopped when my life started becoming more organized. As for the 1930's this is one of my favorite decades in American fashion. One reason being the irony of  such hardships faced by  women during the Great Depression where shopping for clothes was a mere fantasy as ladies had to make due sewing and mended their own clothing. Yet it was this very decade which gave us the most glamorous beauty icons such as Bette Davis,Jean Harlow,Josephine Baker and Vivien Leigh with all their sultry decadence who's influence can still be felt today. As for the look above-don't you just love the gorgeous intricate lace tattoo artwork done on the model with the Senna symbol on her arm? GORGEOUS!  The take on the hairstyle is also beautiful by not using the usual platinum blond color of that era but a futuristic silver. The soft mannequin skin with contrasting vamp lips is perfect. I'm listing the shades used on the model in the photo above if your interested in any of the products. What do you girls think of this look or of the 1930's in general?  Drop a comment. If you shop now you get free goodies. Stay beautiful! XOXO

Shadow On Brows:Dare You?

WOULD YOU BRIGHT EYES & BRIGHT BROWS...
OR WOULD YOU PALE EYES & NUDE BROWS ?

I've been so busy lately that I've got all these interesting back posts I've been meaning to get up and this is one of them. It's what's trending on the New York scene in a fashion editorial titled "East Side Story" from my July issue of Marie Claire.I love that they call the fashion designers the "Designer Gangs of New York" and the entire spread is done with models clad in leather, metals, fur, chains and deconstructed garments. What caught my attention was the use of eye shadow application over and on the brows with bright pops of color. It's not something new with makeup but I have been seeing it in several magazines lately wondering if it will catch on with the masses. This would be definite fun  for a night on the town but would anyone dare to wear this look at the office? Maybe it could be worked into a doable day look if it were a bit more subtle-say like a gold sheen shadow highlighting the brows because I've done stuff like that before but I'm really itching to try that blue shade over my brows-it looks fantastically outrageous on the model! What's more interesting is that they had a completely contrasting eye brow look in the same spread showcasing nude brows. For instance one or two pages with the bright brows then the next pages they had the models with the nude brows. They also had the shadows completely over the brow and well into the outer eye area. This nude brow is showing up on a few magazine covers as well.I don't think I could pull the nude brow look off though because my forehead isn't as tiny as those models lol! but I won't know unless I try right? I added just a few images that I took with my digital camera but it's not the complete spread and sorry for the bright flash all over the photos.I also love that I can show you how nice a pink eye looks on those with pale skin because some of you might think a bright pink eye shadow might not be so viable on your skin tone.I'm completely obsessed with pink shades now-it's crazy! BTW...I purchased a palette that is outrageously bright and will review it when it arrives so I can't wait for that. You girl's like? XOXO

Trending:Two-Tone Lips

Pearly Gold and Moulin Rouge shade used for above look

Falls Hottest Beauty Trends-Dual Toned Lips and as a matter of fact it doesn't just stop just there- dual toned eyes and cheeks as well will have you doing a double take in cosmetic application. The wickedest lip look featuring this ultra glam style was featured in Sephora's Fall 2010 Beauty Report Catalog and I managed to grab a snapshot of it with my digital camera. This red-gold lip was created by backstage makeup artist-Silvia Dell' Orto who recommends if you want to wear this to the office-use a shimmer color that's a little bit softer than the gold with a little tone in the middle to add dimension. For an evening look I say go more bold.I would also imagine that with this type of design application you would literally not have to touch anything to your lips as not to ruin the special effect. How's a girl gonna sip her dirty martini? The price one pays for beauty... The lip products that were used for this feature look are Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in #43 Moulin Rouge and Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense P17 Lipstick. The P17 gold shade is used in center of top and bottom lip.I think there is nothing more fierce than gold mixed with a hot fiery red whether in cosmetics or clothing.SUPER HOTTT! I'm also loving lime and yellow color combos as well. What color combo will you go for this fall? XOXO

Some other color combination's for your consideration:
