Back To School Trends On A Budget With Go Jane

While I no longer have the dreaded task of getting ready for academic life every year most of you chicklets are contemplating the much anticipated first day of school. And while I'm sure your wondering who's the dorky math teacher this semester and do you have the voice to sign up for glee club or are you a long lost relation of William Hung of "She Bang She Bang" American Idol Fame, your biggest question is probably more focused on
"What am I going to wear?".
Fear not my little eager to learn ducklets... I put together a mini collage of the hottest trends to include in your wardrobe courtesy of Go Jane.com. Go Jane is a great place to find fun fashions that are easy on your budget because no one should ever have to sacrifice style. These key pieces are essential must haves for looking like the cool kid while easily helping you transition from the end of summer into the early days of the coming fall. I love their prices most of all because after scouring the web only to find online retailers that sell the same fashions for triple the price, this seems like a better bet.  And we don't like that do we? Boooooooo to triple prices....! Even though these clothes are geared more toward the younger set without any designer branding, the quality is really decent as I have experienced from the lovely dress sent to me by Go Jane to review. As well as all the merchandise purchased by me on my own and I just received my fourth order from Go Jane.  It's a fabulous color-block dress at great quality which I'll review for you guys tomorrow. I have purchased similar fabrics at trendy boutiques for far more money than this.

KEY TREND PIECES TO INCLUDE
IN YOUR FALL WARDROBE

Harem/Slouchy Pants: That's right, there back! I love that these have been updated from the 80's version with a more streamlined look. And I have been dying to get a pair myself but the designer price tags kept me away. You can choose a shorter or longer cut or basic to an embellished pair. The baggy slouch fit in the hip/leg areas allows for a more forgiving style for any body shape. A tip for wearing these are to make sure the top sits on the waist and doesn't fall below or it will add a lot of bulk to your figure. You can pair this pant up with a fitted tee, a mini jacket or a form fitting vest. Wearing a little bit of a heel makes them look uber hot for party wear! For school wear try a nice wedge instead.
Harem/Slouchy pants $10.95 to $14.95

The Versatile Faux Fur Vest: This chic look is still around and will carry into the fall season. The fur vest is great because you can wear it with a pair of jeans and a tank while the weather is still warm or you can layer long sleeves during cooler days. You can dress it down for school or dress it up for those wild weekend parties. It not only makes you look super cute and winter Eskimo flirty, it will make you feel good knowing the real furry critters you save by wearing fake fur get to trollop in the snow this winter. We like happy skipping critters!
Cropped Faux Fur Vest $11.95

Color block: Color blocking garments have been gaining momentum over the months and will be around all winter due to the vintage mod trend for fall 2011. These aren't your mothers hippie color block clothes but rather more updated with sleeker streamlined blocks and neutral shades without the bright neon's. When the weather starts to get brisk just throw on some thick opaque tights, a nice pair of boots and you good to go.
Belted colorblock stripe skirt $18.95

In Jewelry: Were seeing the Peacock everywhere and we love it. A great vintage inspired look from the best that the seventies glamour had to offer. This adds an exotic flair to your style. Whether encased in  metal or faux feather dangling accessories you need to incorporate some peacock motif jewelry for fall.
Peacock Feather  Earrings $8.95

Tassels: Another hot trend right now is tassels jewelry. The longer the trim the better. This is the answer to all the heavy chain link jewelry fashions from the eighties that weighed us down. The metal materials are much lighter and easier to wear. This trend can add a little rock n rock to your look without having to throw on head to toe leather. You can get this look in necklaces, bracelet's and even find metal tassels dangling off of rings.
Chain Link Stone Charm Necklace $11.95

Nature Inspired Stone Ring: These are on trend and can be seen everywhere. The genuine article has a sky high price tag but now you can afford the same "look" without the cost. Nature and leaf inspired motifs will be around for the upcoming season so you definitely want to have a few of these rings in your jewelry box
Nature Stone Leaf Ring $10.95.

Flat-forms: Flat-forms made a splash for this past spring on the runway and they are still going strong. The designer versions can run you up to a couple of hundred dollars and this is a great way to steal the look without the splurge. Plus they are more suited to school attire than high heeled shoes giving comfort, practicality and the cool factor.
Glitter Canvas Flat-form $18.95

Head on over to Go Jane.com for these and other fabulous affordable finds for all your back to school shopping without paying the high price of mall boutique clothing. Look and feel like the cool kid without sending your parents to bankruptcy court. Isn't that what school is for? Oh, yeah and that pesky thing called an education. Stay beautiful!  XOXO

I'm excited to be able to review this fabulous girl's online retailers for those of you who are not yet aware of the Go Jane website. For this review publicity sent me a clothing piece of my choice for my consideration of which I opted to have the Floral Print Smocked Maxi Dress sent to me. My first choice was this great two-tone slouchy dress but it sold out fast! This dress is equally nice and if you guy's see something you like grab it before it's gone.

*** I want to mention the Skull Earrings & the Bambi necklace was purchased with my own money. The prices were so great that while I was skimming through the website I found these two pieces I just had to have plus I had a discount code of 20% off. The Bambi necklace because I have been searching for the perfect Bambi charm for years and every time I found one it seemed to childish to wear but this is just right. And as for the Skull earrings, as most of you know I collect skulls motif pieces but the real reason I wanted these were because they look like a piece from my fave jewelry designers, Delfina Dellettrez Collection. If you check my site I'm sure I have done posts on her jewelry.  I saw a pair from her last season that looked just like these for $800 + ! I don't have that much to spend and these are just as nice. The quality is good and the spike tip is a nice metal. I might grab another pair in silver.

Some product info on the dress before  post more information on Go Jane and my results with the products, customer service, etc...

Floral print smocked maxi dress :Layered floral print maxi dress designed with a smocked bodice and ruffled trim detail, finished with adjustable tie closure straps. Length from shoulder to hem: 57.5 inches. 100% Polyester. Hand wash cold, hang dry. Imported. $46

About Go Jane Clothing & Website :

Go Jane.com is an Internet retailer of fashion forward apparel for progressive young women.  We specialize in offering unique and daring styles that cant be found elsewhere.  The web site is designed to provide the most dynamic selection of clothing on the Internet by constantly introducing new styles and products.   We add over 100 new styles every week to keep you at the forefront of fashion.  Why wait for the next catalog of the same old pictures?  Find something new at GoJane.com.

What I think about the dress: The quality of this dress is really great. The fabric is light and airy yet substantial and sewn right. It's also completely lined with a nice silky type polyester so you have modesty and not have to worry about your undergarments peeking through. I love this beautiful floral print in creamy pink and purple hues but the best part is the flowy material and ruffles layers. You can easily spend a hundred dollars for this in a boutique which makes the $46 price tag even sweeter. An important note on this dress: it's super maxi! I have to wear platforms or heels with this and if I wanted to wear sandals or flip flops I would have to have it hemmed like 4 inches or so. If your over 5 feet 7 it might sit above your ankle but on me it falls past my ankle. Go Jane offers each piece in a variety of shades and all sizes to suite everyone.

The Sizing: I'm 5 feet 5 inches and always shop in the Juniors section usually wearing a size 7-9, Medium and when the item looks cut shorter or smaller in the bust area I grab a large in Juniors. I went by the size chart and decided to go for a large but a medium would have been just fine. Since the bust area is ruched and stretchy it could have been a better fit. Plus the waist is Empire which makes the bottom portion very roomy and forgiving in that area. Still it fit's good and this style is meant to be worn a little loose and flowy. The size chart is pretty standard and you can always return an item for an exchange or refund with no hassles, just go over the merchant's policy. I went a size up because I have noticed how sizing has changed over the years with each size getting smaller even thought a medium would have been great, you can see form the photo that the large isn't that much of a difference, maybe by a couple of inches.

The website: Go Jane has amazing savings and deals such as the daily or weekly deal when you can grab a sale item for cheap! I found a maxi skirt for $8!!! I will do a post when I get that skirt in the mail. So if your on a budget you will definitely love shopping at  Go Jane. They have everything from casual dresses, pants, denim, formal occasion gowns, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and even cute makeup. The website caters to a more youthful age group with trendy pieces and a plethora of mini's so no office wear here but what ever age group you can still find pieces to add to your wardrobe at unbelievable prices. I'm not a teenager but still managed to find basic items I can wear along with jewelry pieces that are mature enough for me to pair up with outfits.  As for the shipping, it's super fast! I got my jewelry in less than a week with no damages. If you spend over $50 there's always free shipping which is helpful. If your a mom you can get an entire wardrobe for your teen for the same price it would cost to get a few pieces at larger retail or mall boutiques so that alone saves you a ton of cash.

My final thoughts on Go Jane and my shopping experience: This is a website to add to you bookmark tab so you can check for daily, weekly deals or just splurge on some great trendy pieces. You get your items shipped quickly and packaged nicely but if you have any order issues customer service is very helpful. There is a large variety of shades, sizes and tastes for everyone at Go Jane with fabulous prices, free shipping over $50 and tons of sales. Although the merchandise caters to a more youthful crowd and there are no designer brands if you search around there's is likely to be something you will love even if your not in your twenties. I recommend Go Jane not only because I recieved an item form publicity but because I become a customer myself purchasing jewelry pieces with my own money and a fabulous maxi skirt for $8 which I will review when it get's here. I really enjoy this website and will frequent it every chance I get and at the moment I have my eyes set on other cute pieces on my to buy list. Anyone shop here? Stay beautiful! XOXO

Why Use a Reusable Bag?:
There are countless reasons why you as an every day American should start to use a reusable bag. We have studied article after article, paper after paper, and blog after blog. Other than the fact that AVEYOU Beauty Boutique & AveYou.com has the sharpest reusable bags around, you are now on the cutting edge of a unique Grassroots movement that is sweeping the nation! It is our belief that within five years over 90% of the country will be using a reusable grocery bag! Its time to wake up and smell the coffee, we say!

Here are a few of our favorite facts in regards to why we are urging you to make the very important choice to put down your paper and plastic and protect your Earth today! It isn’t too late. In fact, we are just getting started!
  • A Plastic bag takes 450 years to biodegrade. Imagine 10 billion of them!
  • The production of Paper bags causes 70% more pollution than Plastic.
  • When Plastic “photo degrades” it ends up in our oceans. Incidentally, it appears much like a plankton, and is then consumed by fish. Fish eat it, and it winds up on your dinner table. YUCK!!!
  • The recipe for making paper bags starts with 1 part pulp, 400 parts WATER. What a waste of water!
  • The recycling of plastic emits heavy metals into the air causing extreme air pollution
  • An average person will use over 350 bags in a single year!
  • In New York City, one less grocery bag per person would reduce waste by five million pounds and save $250,000 in disposal costs!
  • In 1999 more than 14 million trees were cut down to produce 10 billion paper bags that were used by Americans that year!
The facts are staggering and we could go on and on as to why it is so imperative that you stop using paper and plastic now.
  • Ultra durable, non-woven polypropylene bag. Polypropylene is meant to feel like soft cloth and can hold up to 40 lbs.
  • Bag Colors: Green, Black, or White
  • Bag Dimensions:
    • Large 12.5" w x 8.5" d x 13.5 h.
    • Medium 11" w x 7" d x 11.8" h
    • Small 9.5" w x 5.5" d x 10.4" h
    • Extra Small 4.7" w x 4.3" d x 6.69" h
  • Bag weight - 100 grams
  • Plastic inserts for bottom sturdiness and easy wipe free.
25 Reasons To Go Reusable:

1:
A plastic shopping bag can take anywhere from 15 to 1000 years to decompose. In a compressed landfill, deprived of atmosphere to help them biodegrade, paper bags don't fare much better.
2:
Plastic bags don't biodegrade, but are at risk for photo degradation, light exposure dissolving them into toxic polymer particles. Most often, when this happens, it happens in the ocean.
3:
The cost to recycle plastic bags so outweighs their value that most recycling facilities will not take them, leading more and more to just be thrown out with the rest of the trash.

4:
According to the Wall Street Journal, only 1% of plastic bags are recycled world-wide; the rest are left to live on indefinitely in landfills.

5:

The United States alone uses approximately 100 billion new plastic bags per year - the average person goes through between 350 and 500.

6:
Thanks to their light weight, plastic bags are the debris most likely to fly away from landfills, settling instead in trees, storm drains, beaches, and the ocean.

7:
Public agencies in California alone spend over $300 million on coastal litter clean-up per year.

8:
Plastic bags make up over 10% of washed-up debris polluting the US coastline.

9:
According to the British Antarctic Survey, discarded plastic bags have been found as far north as the Arctic Circle and as far south as The Falkland Islands.
10:
An estimated one million birds and 100,000 turtles and other sea animals die of starvation each year after ingesting discarded plastic bags which block their digestive tracks.
11:
Made from petroleum products and natural gas, plastic bags utilize nonrenewable resources, ultimately helping to drive up fuel prices.

12:
It takes 12 million barrels of oil to produce the amount of plastic bags the US uses per year.

13:
Think paper bags are better? The United States cuts down 14 million trees per year simply to supply the demand for paper shopping bags.

14:
It requires 13% more energy to produce one single paper bag than to produce two plasticbags.

15:
Made with chemicals processed at high temperatures, paper bag production releases many toxins into the atmosphere at much the same rate as plastic production.
16:
Paper bags weigh nearly ten times their counterparts in plastic, requiring more fuel to ship them out to stores.

17:
Despite their high recyclability factor, research shows that only 20% of paper bags end up recycled while the rest share a fate with their plastic brethrens.
18:
In landfills, paper bags produce over twice as much atmospheric waste as plastic, making them questionable at best as the superior choice for the environment.
19:
Ireland, the first European country to impose a tax on them, has decreased plastic shopping bag consumption by 90% since 2002, reducing overall plastic bag usage by 1.08 billion.
20:
In the past five years, over a dozen countries have banned or put a tax on disposable bags.

21:
Reusable bags come in all sorts of smart and stylish shapes and prints, making your shopping trips a little less routine and a little more fun.

22:
Some grocery stores even offer discounts for customers who bring their own bags - now that's incentive!

23:
In New York City, one less grocery bag per person would reduce waste by 5 million pounds and save $250,000 in disposal costs.
24:
The average reusable bag has the lifespan of over seven hundred disposable plastic bags.

25:
Over a lifetime, use of reusable bags by just one person would save over 22,000 plastic bags. Isn't that even better incentive?

Leaves Of Grass Arabesque Dress

LUSTING AFTER-This gorgeous Leaves Of Grass Arabesque Dress is on my fantasy wish list, it's just heavenly! You can view a video of the dress in action on the link provided below. In my personal opinion the styling on the page is all wrong. A raffia purse? Scratching head... Gladiator sandals? Doing my Scooby Doo impersonation-r-u-t-r-o!  Wrong wrong wrong. People get paid for this? Uh! Whatever... Those pieces are too heavy, non-complimentary and a completely different vibe for this light angelic dress. What really needs to be anchored is the stylist's eyes for better aesthetic vision. That's my unsolicited 25 cent worth opinion and I'm entitled to it-period...............

Dress Detail Info:
Leaves of Grass Arabesque tie-dye dress: white and sky-blue crinkled sheer silk-georgette, round neck, eyelets and lace-up fastening bust, gathered shoulders, three-quarter length sleeves, flared asymmetric cuffs, ruffle trim, elasticated back waist, detachable slip. Back zip fastening. 100% silk. Dry clean.

I'm not forgoing my usual flashback reggae videos instead changing it up every now and then as to keep all my subscribers happy and feel my certain eclectic tastes shouldn't be shoved in everyone's face just because it's my blog. I was just trying to expand everyone's musical horizons but sadly there were not a lot of comments when those video's were posted. So for today's Friday Fun Day video I decided to post Lady Gaga's live performance of "On The Edge Of Glory" on American Idol only because no video is up for the song yet and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! It has a twinge of Donna Summer to it and it's fabulous! I have this love/annoyance with Lady Gaga because she is highly talented, writes lyrics, produces, plays instruments etc... but then her performance is not as enthusiastic as the level of the song. I mean this tune is high volume and electrifying then to see her just stand there and barely move. It's just annoying! I wish she would put more effort into performing as she does with all the crazy get ups she's wearing. Maybe the persona she creates get's in the way of what's underneath it all, the heart of who she really is. Shed all the crazy outfits-it's not necessary to one's talent and probably a distraction. But I still love her. And what's up with the cheesy leap of the fake ledge? Oh, I get it. She's on the edge of glory. Uh! don't mind what I'm babbling about today my fellow bloggies, the unbearable New York humidity makes a cranky pants. Harmless dribblings... Ton's of reviews are coming up for next week. I received some Batiste dry me shampoo samples, OKA. B flip flops and still have the Everyday Mineral eye shadows to review as well. Also a special fantastic interview coming up, it's the first for Venus Loves Virgo!  In other news, I changed my font color to black so the posts can be read more easily and if there is something you guys would like to see on the blog or would suggest please jot it down in the comment section. Have a great weekend. Stay beautiful! XOXO

Sonia Kashuk Beauty Bag Filled Goodies From Target

Target beauty box arrived!

 some goodies
 lovely Sonia Kashuk cosmetic case
The lovely Super Girl from Supreme Living Blog sent me an email about a month ago with a link on Target Beauty Bag promotion they were having so I could get in on the fun even though she couldn't because she resides outside the States. That was so sweet of her, thanks again Super Girl MWAH! XOXO. At first I didn't think anything of it nor did I blog about it because when I filled up my information a prompt came out saying the promotion was over (due to limited supplies) but a couple of days ago I found this Target Box in my mail! I guess they had just about one more box left to give away.

What I got was a lovely medium size Sonia Kashuk cosmetic case which is very nice and roomy filled with lot's of beauty samples and a fat book of coupons to use at Target. Hey it's free... right? I checked the link again and the promotion is over due to limited quantity's but now that I know about this I'll be checking back and will post a link when they have this offer again. I'm glad Super Girl told me about it and wish they had more for you guys in the States to try but keep a look out for it in the future. Stay Beautiful! XOXO
