Chris Johnson Agrees to New Deal with Titans

ESPN- "He'll sign tomorrow and take his physical and be ready to start practicing," Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt said Thursday night before Tennessee played New Orleans in a final preseason game. "It was a tough negotiation, but both sides gave some and we got it done."

A league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the extension is worth $53 million with $30 million guaranteed. The extension will be tacked on to the two years he had remaining on his previous contract, putting him under the Titans' control through the 2016 season.

"Hetty Green: Witch of Wall Street (Titans of Fortune)" Overview

Biographical profile of Hetty Green, considered by most historians to have been the richest American woman of all time. Dubbed "America's First Female Tycoon," or the "Witch of Wall Street," Green deservedly earned a place in the pantheon of American titans.
Unfortunately, she is better known for her eccentricities and miserly ways—and she was as tightfisted as a bare-knuckled boxer—than for her unprecedented accomplishments in what was an exclusively male domain: finance. Where William Vanderbilt doubled his father's fortune in 10 years, Hetty astutely invested her inheritance and saw it grow more than twenty-fold in the half century following her father'is death. Award-winning author and syndicated columnist Daniel Alef, who has written the biographical profiles of more than 300 of America's greatest tycoons, tells the story of Hetty Green's remarkable, at times bizarre, but always moving life. "Clarence L. "Kelly" Johnson: From Skunk Works to the Edge of Space (Titans of Fortune)" Overview

Kelly Johnson designed the Blackbird, a plane that flew non-stop from London to Los Angeles in less than four hours, outracing the sun and landing four hours before it had taken off, a remarkable feat--and this was more than 35 years ago. Johnson was the innovative genius behind Lockheed's "Skunk Works," and played a leading role in the development of more than forty aircraft, including some of America's most sophisticated planes. In 2003, as part of its commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' flight, an Aviation Week & Space Technology poll ranked him 8th on its list of the "Top 100 Stars of Aerospace" in the first century of flight, just behind the Wright brothers, Leonardo Da Vinci and Charles Lindbergh. The president of Lockheed once said: "That damned Swede can actually see air." Award-winning author Daniel Alef tells the remarkable tale of the man who garnered 35 major awards for his aviation feats, including the Medal of Freedom, and brought us to the edge of space. The Johnson profile includes a timeline, a short bibliography and links to videos of his aircraft including the Constellation, Shooting Star, F-104, U-2 and the SR-71 Blackbird. Scranton's own Mike Munchak takes over the Titans

When Fisher "parted ways" with the organization on January 27 the door was opened for new possibilities. As respected as he was throughout the NFL his teams only made the playoffs six times in 16 full seasons as head coach. In this day and age that's just not good enough.

Now, Mike Munchak, who has been a fixture with the Titans franchise since he was drafted by them in 1982, gets an opportunity to show what he can do leading this team into the future.

There is one thing that he needs to do in order to turn this Titans franchise around. It's the same thing that every NFL franchise has to do: draft and develop players.

Jeff Fisher Out: Titans, NFL's Longest Tenured Coach Parting Ways

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In a surprising move, the Tennessee Titans have parted ways with Jeff Fisher, who was the NFL's longest-tenured coach. The team said in a release Thursday night that "Fisher will no longer be the head coach of the team."

The Titans announced the move within an hour of a report by SI.com that they were negotiating Fisher's departure and released a longer statement a couple hours later saying they will always appreciate his leadership through some of their "greatest heights" during 16 full seasons as coach. Story Here
