New! CoverGirl NatureLuxe Foundation & Lipstick

gloss balm 240 muscat-225 anemone- lip perfection lipstick 415 siren

natureluxe silky foundation shade 305 alabaster

Here it is, my review for the two new CoverGirl NatureLuxe Make Up Line-NatureLuxe Silk Foundation & NatureLuxe Lip Perfection Lipstick & NatureLuxe Gloss Balm. Not only are these wonderful new products from CoverGirl cosmetics but they have the  added bonus of containing natural ingredients in the formula. Natural & organics cosmetics aren't a new phenomenon but are still less accessible or affordable to the mass market, making this exciting news for the retail giant brand that's able to distribute the line at mass retail. The products are not completely natural but it's a start and a step in the right direction for pharmacy sold cosmetics and here's hoping to the day we can finally say adieu to synthetics & chemicals altogether! When I opened the bag of goodies sent to me, while examining them these products struck me as similar to the Yves Rocher natural cosmetics that were on the market decades ago which could only be purchased from a catalog and were a bit pricey back then so it's a plus for me knowing these can be found at my local Target or Walgreen's. Let's start off with the NatureLuxe Silk Foundation-honestly when the tube came out of the gift bag it made me skeptical because the shade number and color looked darker through the tube window. Usually I select a shade with 001 or just zero's so shade #305  naturally had me worried even though I did ask for the lightest shade to be sent. I couldn't have been more wrong because this shade is wonderful especially because it was devoid of those reddish beige pigments. that make your skin appear unnatural looking. By the way the color name for #305 is Alabaster-so you girls out there who have a hard time finding a nice foundation for pale skin this is suitable. It's not that vampire-geisha pale either but natural looking. I achieved a natural light shade without looking ghostly but rather a nice warm glow. In the swatch above I let some of it sit on my skin  in a big drop to show you the color but right next to the droplet it was rubbed in so you can hardly see it, a great match. As for the ingredients the formula contains cucumber water, natural jojoba and rose hips extract. The new formula exchanges certain select heavier synthetics for carefully chosen natural ingredients while delivering a polished make up look with a lightweight feel. Pat McGrath also helped design this with her beauty trend insights  and we all know she's a top professional make up artist. As for other pro's, 8 out of 10 professional make up artists who evaluated the product agree the foundation provides a luxurious skin finish which is light and 7 out of 10 would recommend this to their clients. This foundation is also oil free, paraben free, dermatologically tested, great for oily, normal, dry or sensitive skin plus contains an SPF 10. As for how it feels after application,my skin felt very silky, airy and fresh. It's semi-matte finish surprised me because I thought it was going to be  either watery or oily on my skin, instead it gave me a very flawless air brush finish but without a heavy dry feel you often get from matte foundation. You need to work fast in blending this because of the lack of oil. The foundation gives you light to medium coverage but it's very buildable. If you have no blemishes or spots then your completely set with one application! I had a few spots to cover up a bit and found no matter how much of a thin layer was added it didn't cake at all which is great because nobody want s to end up with a mask look on their face. This must be due to the cucumber water in the formula which is very refreshing. If you have deeper blemishes I suggest you use a light concealer on top, perhaps the CoverGirl Olay concealer which I used and matches well just by patting a tiny dab on on the area you wish to cover.  The only thing I might have made better was the packaging. I don't know if it's just a personal quirk of mine but to me it should be in a jar because the tube insert is small so you have to squeeze it for the foundation to dispense sometimes having too much come through. I was use to shaking my other liquid foundation bottle and using the amount of foundation from the bottle cap as a little tray to dip my make up sponge in giving me more control of the product, in this packaging it seems as if the product might run out faster. It's not the end of the world but a jar may be more time & money saving. I'm also hoping they create a cream compact version of this foundation so it can double as a concealer/spot touch up. The coverage lasts well into the night without caking, settling or drying up on your skin which is a plus and I only needed to touch up my nose area a little bit. The foundation is available in 14 different shades ranging from the lightest to darkest so women of all color can find a perfect match. All in all it's a beautiful foundation that feels super light on my skin with a long lasting flawless finish coverage, natural ingredients and protection from the sun. The price is decent considering what you pay for in department stores which aren't that much better quality in some cases. It's available at mass retail outlets for everyone! I'm loving it and wish everyone try's this foundation! Now onto the NatureLuxe Gloss Balm, it's a gloss and balm all in one. These remind me of my favorite CoverGirl Fat Lip Gloss sticks form years ago. They are super silky and wonderfully moisturizing! The colors are fabulously rich and glossy. The same principal behind these as the foundation, exchanging heavy synthetic ingredients for a more natural lightweight formula. These gloss balms contain mango, shea butters and SPF 15 which provide a moisture barrier to help protect your lips from the wind and sun. They made my lips feel supple, soft with a nice sheer glossy finish. The colors are very vibrant and great when you need something more substantial than a gloss but want that glossy finish to you look. Professional make up artists were also impressed with these while Pat McGrath helped design the 16 available colors. And finally we have the Lip Perfection Lipstick which is enhanced with silk therapy moisturizers that help transform your lips to their smoothest in just 7 days! The silk therapy complex works in combination to help improve lip condition with emollients from olive oil, white tea, avocado, shea and aloe butters plus silk protein to soften lips. It's dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin. I also loved the way this lipstick felt going on my lips, soft and silky. It's just what I need for dry winter lips and the color is fantastic! I tested and used shade 415 Siren which is a pretty bright summer time berry color in the rose family. This is the most beautiful rose shade I have ever seen. Everyone needs to try this shade, it's so gorgeous with a hint of glistening crystal sheen under bright lighting. And it's also that perfect balance if you always wanted to try a bright pink shade but thought you couldn't possibly pull off such a color, well you can with this. I think any women can wear it no matter her skin tone. I didn't test shade 390 Sweetheart which is a pretty pearly pink also in the rose family because I decided to add it to the prize package of my Giveaway (coming soon) as to let my subscribers have a chance in trying this new line. Lip Perfection lipstick are available in 44 beautiful lip transforming shades, with so many colors to choose from everyone will be satisfied.  I also have to mention how long lasting the formula is and the strength of the pigments are amazing. Even after hours when the luster fades somewhat your lips still have this wonderful  natural stain look to them while keeping soft. in my opinion the entire new line is fabulous! It's money saving, available to all, wonderful natural ingredients and a range of shades to choose from. Available now at a store near you. Stay beautiful! XOXO

Sheer Cover Minerals

what's left of my sheer mineral kit after I used it up

Finally! I'm posting this review for you.Sorry it took so long and for the fact I used up most of the products that I only have the makeup case and brushes to show for it but no swatches. You can view  the swatches for  the light or any other shade option over here. I ordered this kit in the light shade group and it matched my skin tone nicely although on those occasions I needed to apply a little more for extra coverage it wasn't a total match. Why is it that when you view then infomercial on T.V. they always make that person look miraculously better? If your not familiar with Sheer Cover Minerals it's endorsed by Leeza Gibbons.I'm listing everything you get in your kit below. It's a good value for a huge set plus you get some good quality full size brushes. As for the actual foundation-it was light and easy to apply although I found it wasn't totally 100% coverage if you have flaws and discolorations and I'm not talking heavy flaws but even light blemishes. In order to make them invisible you need the concealer {which was okay} and a good amount of the minerals.Maybe this is due to the fact they really are very sheer. But if you have perfect clear skin this would be a better bet on you in regards to coverage. It lasts all day without too much creasing and a few touch ups were required.I liked that it didn't feel caked and I didn't feel  any heaviness on my face. I had a few break outs the morning after but that's maybe because I applied more than I should have. It's not a bad product but not the best either because it needs more application with the minerals than advertised.I don't understand how they completely covered up that scarred women in the commercial? I didn't feel it was like the demonstration. This wasn't as great as the Raw Minerals kit I purchased and reviewed awhile back which can be found here. The Raw Minerals was way better even though it was pricier.Everything else in the kit was great plus if your not satisfied you just return a few items and keep the rest including a huge black makeup case and all the brushes and get a complete refund. You just have to send the items back in the time frame they give you in order to get your refund. I really liked the color palette which has some lip gloss and shadows even thought they were crazy tiny sized! Another great item was the duo travel kit that allows you to carry your minerals and concealer underneath one tiny compact with a little kabuki brush so you can carry it around and touch up on the go.It's very discreet and very nice.I also love that once you get the kit in the mail they send a catalog with more shade options. They had a really nice lighter shade than the one they sent me called Frost and I ordered that which I found much better than the shades sent with the kit.So you have options of customizing your own kit after you buy this one. They also have other mineral products and cosmetics for you to choose if you want to become a member. All in all it's a sweet deal & maybe I'm being picky because I wanted to see more in the coverage department.I think you can also order from them after your initial introductory offer without having to join the club.I just might try that Frost mineral foundation again in the future because it was really good.I would recommend this as a starter kit for anyone who has never tried minerals before.Stay beautiful! XOXO

Cover Girl Simply Ageless Foundation

I'm done testing out another Cover Girl product and ready to review it.The Simply Ageless Compact Foundation with Olay Serum.I received this product in three different shades and was so happy that there was one to match my skin tone included in the set which is pictured below in shade 205 Ivory. This shade matches my skin better than the 210 shade I reviewed for the CG Clean liquid foundation. The foundation comes in a nifty compact complete with a sponge applicator located at the base.To get to the foundation you just unscrew the top cap.Swirled inside the foundation is Olay anti-aging serum which is amazing and sort of works as a primer with the makeup.I found the formula to be lightweight and I was able to build my custom coverage by dabbing on those little flaws using this product as a spot concealer as well.It didn't feel caked at all and the makeup didn't settle into any fine lines. It feels a little weird at first to swirl the sponge around and the compact gets messy but it does the trick. You should also apply a little at a time with the sponge so you can tell how much coverage you need to build up.I don't recommend swishing a lot of product then applying it to your face-it gets too heavy that way. I used my fingers to work around my eye area and around my nose. It's harder to use your fingers with this product for all over face application but great for spot touch ups.The formula transforms as a cream in the compact to liquid on your skin and glides nicely.Make sure you exfoliate and that your moisturizer isn't oily but matte before applying this.Simply Ageless is also SPF 22-dermatologically tested and suitable for sensitive skin.I didn't notice any irritations or breakouts.I really like this foundation for it's light formula and the fact that it gives me an added anti-aging edge.It feels a little bit more moist than my Urban Decay Surreal Cream to powder foundation which is still my top fave right now but I would use this more in the winter for this reason when you want a bit more glow and moisture.Plus it's a great price for a nice working foundation if you can't afford the $40 brands,I definitely would recommend this.

Cover Girl Clean Foundation

from top shade 210 shade 220 with porcelain for color comparison

Heeeeeey Thuuuuuur! It's the return of Venus in Virgo! Eyzzz back...I hope everyone is having a great summer and had a blast on July 4th. Although I'm technically still on a hiatus I will be able to start posting regularly again and I have a ginormous amount of beauty-fashion news with tons of product reviews-tips and new features to post about. Including a heap of new product press info on Urban Decay Fall 2010 line sent to me a few days ago. It's total madness! I don't know how I'm going to get all this stuff on my little blog but hey it's a good thing I thrive in chaos...long live my ludicrous speed mode. Is anyone else melting in this shhmeltering 100 degree heat wave? Anyway-as promised before I left I said I was going to test out all the goodies that Cover Girl sent me so I will start my first post on Cover Girl Clean Foundation in the sensitive skin formula. My biggest concern was the shade match to my own skin and I'm glad I received a couple of different shades to try.First shade was 210 Classic Ivory-the second shade was 220 Creamy Natural.I also added a photo of L'oreal True Match that I wear to give you guys a picture of the shade differentiation as you can see in the photo how much lighter the L'oreal Porcelain shade that I use is.Let me just rule out the 220 right off the bat because it was too dark plus too beige-y on my skin.Classic Ivory 210 was much better even though still too beige on my. Yep,that's right I'm that light .I think I could get away with wearing this shade in the winter when your skin needs a bit more coloring. That's not a reflection on the foundation it's just a matter of getting the right shade and I believe Cover Girl makes a lighter Ivory in shade 205 but I didn't get that one-darn!.The formula itself is great.Very light and very build-able although if you don't get the right shade and you try to add more layers for coverage on a flaw it will show up. I loved how easily it blends while making your skin feel naked. It lasted all day and gave off a soft glow as this isn't a matte formula but it's not oily or greasy at all. Plus it didn't irritate or make my skin break out as I have sensitive skin. It's definitely a good quality find for a drug store brand as long as you find your exact color match. There's a lot more coming so stay posted xoxo

RAW Natural Minerals Foundation

So I'm finally posting a review I promised on one of the mineral foundations I have tested and in my opinion this is the better of the mineral foundations that I have tried so far but I'm still looking for more to test so stay tuned. This kit is from RAW Natural Minerals and I got to try this product in the full size jars because it was given as a Christmas gift but you can try it for free with their sample Discovery Kit plus you get to keep the free gifts which is a 3 piece brush set.My full size supply lasted 2 months but if you buy the discovery sample kit you will get a 30 day trial, that's a great deal for a month of mineral use for $4.95 standard ship.I have to say the best part of this particular brand was it's staying power,it lasted from morning until almost 11 pm when I was ready to shower and I didn't have to retouch anything.I don't really like retouching make-up unless I have to anyway because your skin gets that natural glow during the middle of the day that's pretty. The coverage was light/medium but very buildable and there was no caked look.I was hoping for just a bit more on the coverage side still it was okay. I found the color option in the light kit that my friend chose for me blended well with my hard to match very light skin tone.I also want to mention what lovely soft glow the minerals give off on your face. The active veil sunscreen powder also acted as another layer of coverage and it's great reassurance to help protect your skin from UV Rays.Plus I felt as if I was wearing nothing on my face,my skin felt breezy and light not like that feeling you get when you know you have too much product on your face and you can't wait to wash it off.The bronzer powder or mineral glow was dark in the pot but it adds a deep colorful glow to your cheeks as well as anywhere you want a little flushed highlight, even on your eyes which I tried and it gave them a nice pop. The brushes were soft, easy to work with making application smooth and neat. The concealer brush is amazing,it's not a designer brand but it helped with the little spots that had to be covered with flying colors. I have tried other brands before but never liked the coverage so I'm always skeptical of mineral powder foundations but this changed my opinions of that. With this kit you conceal first with the concealing brush on those little areas that need more coverage then you sweep the foundation on with the large foundation brush. I did it in that order but found coverage was better when I concealed the little spots again after the full sweeping of my face, You can layer on the minerals until you satisfied. It also went on smooth with my moisturizer under the foundation.I suggest using a moisturizer that isn't too oily and finishes off matte on your skin so application goes on smoother. You get 2 different shades in your choice of skin color so matching your own tone is easier. The redness was covered and my skin looked uniform. If you have really uneven skin tone or severe problem skin you may need to conceal a bit more or possibly add a thin layer of some liquid foundation underneath to get full coverage that gives you more confidence. Also if your skin is very dry or you have flaking issues you need to moisturize first because dry patches show up. It's really a super bargain just to try because it's free and you only pay like $4.95 for the standard shipping and if you are not satisfied after 30 days just send the jars back and keep the brush set as a gift for free regardless. You can't beat this offer just to try it. If you do like the minerals you will be billed $90 which they say is a 50% sale price for joining the club and after that you get a 60 day supply for $59.50 of having your choice of minerals sent to you automatically. Even though this was a gift given to me and I really loved the minerals I opted not to join the club because I don't know if I'm ready to commit to this one brand just yet.But I got a chance to sign up to their website and I can purchase single pieces without buying a full kit or without having to join because of that initial kit that I got so you can choose to do that as well after you try the minerals. If anyone is interested in trying it for yourself I recommend it, you wont have anything to lose for paying only $4.95 shipping. What you get in the Discovery 7 Piece Kit to try it out is listed below:Remember to choose the standard ship option because priority ship is $9.95 and you will be billed for that price instead. The link is above, just click on RAW Natural Minerals. This product has a shade available for women of all color and ethnicity's
